Bernadette McNamara

Bernadette McNamara is an American television writer and producer. She has worked in both capacities on Deadwood and has been nominated for two Writers Guild of America Awards for her work on the series.
Biography
1990s
McNamara began working in television as an assistant to David Milch for the fifth season of ABC police procedural NYPD Blue in 1997. Milch was a co-creator and executive producer for the series. McNamara made her television writing debut with the sixth season episode "Voir Dire This" in 1999. She wrote the teleplay for the episode from a story by Milch and retired police detective Bill Clark.
2000s
McNamara was an associate producer and writer for the short-lived Milch created series Big Apple in 2001.
McNamara joined the crew of HBO Western drama Deadwood as an associate producer for the first season in 2004. The series was created by Milch and focuses on the growth of a settlement in the American West. She became a staff writer for the second season in 2005. McNamara and the writing staff were also nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Drama Series at the February 2006 ceremony for their work on the second season. She remained a writer for the third and final season in 2006 and scripted the series penultimate episode "The Catbird Seat". The third season writers were again nominated for the WGA Award for Outstanding Drama Series at the February 2007 ceremony.
Also in 2006 McNamara worked as a writer for the second season of supernatural mystery Medium. She co-wrote the story for the episode "Sweet Child O' Mine" with Michael T. Moore. She wrote the teleplay for the episode "Allison Wonderland" from a story she co-wrote with Moore.
