Life
Mrs. Clayton was born on 16th March, 1944 in Melbourne, Australia
She became assistant principal at Balwyn High School in 2003, after being a classroom music teacher for 10 years previously; at Greythorn High School before that also since 1975 as a year level coordinator..
She is also now Director of Music at Balwyn High School, after apparently coming out of 'retirement' in order to take up the role. She is also 'Director of Community Engagement & Development' at the afore mentioned school
Advocacy
Mrs. Clayton has been noted for her authoring of an article in 'Teacher: The National Education Magazine', regarding professional development, and using Balwyn High School, the school that she was assistant principal at the time, as an example of "teacher professional development" .
She made a keynote speech at an important annual meeting of the Australian Council for Educational Research in 2005, again advocating the merits of professional development and the need for new curriculum management techniques in Australian schools .
Retirement
Mrs. Clayton retired from her role at Balwyn High School in 2007, and has since not been active in the educational community over her advocacy of curriculum learning techniques <ref name="The Lion"/>.
