Ben Brooks (investor)

Ben Brooks is an American investor who is responsible for funding and managing some of the largest companies in several industries along with creating the first ever stock index based on North Carolina. Brooks began his investment career as an Investment Adviser with WheatFirst Securities. After seven years, Brooks took over as Regional Manager of Marion Bass Securities in 1997. Brooks moved up rapidly to become Director of Investment Banking and subsequently CEO of the firm at 38 years old
Building upon this, Brooks founded Southern Capitol Ventures in 2000.
In 2017, Brooks created the Carolinas Index, a proxy for public company performance in North and South Carolina. The Carolinas Index is now tracked by analysts and investors alike. The index tracks the performance of the 75 largest companies in NC and SC on an equal weighted basis. The index is particularly important in North Carolina given its rich banking history and rapid growth in Technology and Life Sciences.<ref name="auto"/>
