The Belgian Ringbeater is a breed of fancy pigeon. Belgian Ringbeaters, along with other varieties of domesticated pigeons, are all descendants from the rock pigeon (Columba livia). Appearance Belgian Ringbeaters have a ruff of feathers at the top of its neck. Flight Ringbeaters are known for its distinctive “ringing” flight, where the pigeons fly in a circular motion, making a ringing sound as their wings flap against each other.<ref name=":0" /> Origins Although the Belgina Ringbeater's origins are unclear, it is believed that it was developed through selective breeding in the 19th century as a cross between several different breeds of domestic pigeons, including the Ghent Cropper.<ref name=":0" /> |
