Beaver Canyon

Beaver Canyon is a section of Beaver Avenue in State College, Pennsylvania, USA. This area is located two blocks south of the campus of Penn State. The title is informal, as well as the actual area the "Canyon" encompasses. Generally, Beaver Canyon could be defined as being bounded on the east by South Garner Street and on the west by South Pugh Street. Establishments along this stretch of road include the following apartment complexes: The Diplomat, Penn Tower, Beaver Hill, and Cedar Brook (with its distinctive pink sign above the entrance); businesses include: Canyon Pizza, Canyon Wings (newly established at the former site of The Shack), Penn State #1 Sub Shop, and others; Triangle and KA fraternities are also located in the Canyon.

Intersection of Locust Lane & Beaver Avenue

This intersection is an area of heavy pedestrian congestion on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. This is largely due to the location of the widely popular Canyon Pizza on the corner, with competitor College Pizza located less than a block away on Locust Lane. Additionally, the intersection is in close proximity to a large number of fraternities and large apartment buildings. During football season (particularly during Ohio State or Michigan home game weekends), police in riot gear may be seen on foot and on horseback on all sides of this intersection. According to Penn State's student newspaper, The Daily Collegian, 150 police officers were stationed between Pugh and Garner streets the night of the Penn State/Ohio State game in October of 2005
