A Biodynamic Cyclone Organic Stimulator (BCOS) is a piece of equipment infrequently used in biodynamic farming for the processing of Preparation 500. A slight deviation from traditional hand-stirring methods, a BCOS is used on larger farms where mixture and application take place on a scale that makes small batch preparation ineffective. A BCOS consists of a large drum, typically with a capacity approaching 200 - 500 liters, and a drive motor capable of rotating either direction, attached to a mixing apparatus within the drum. By rotating the mixing apparatus at high RPMs, cyclonic action creates the desired “vortex” in the preparation, properly stimulating it.
