Battle of the Greens

The Battle of the Greens is the annual cricket match played between Royal College Panadura and St. John's College Panadura. It is also popularly known as the Battle of Panadura in public and played at Panadura Esplanade annualy. Atmosphere The "Battle of the Greens" is filled with decorated tents, flags and baila singing and dancing groups present all around the city and the ground during match days. On the day before the match, students of each school take a walk around the city in a cycle parade with bands and decorations coupled with college flags showing support for their respective team. Overloaded cars with supporters singing along the Panadura streets is a familiar sight during match days.
