Battle of Ghadames

The Battle of Ghadames was a battle that happened in the 2011 Libyan Civil War over control of the Algerian border town of Ghadames.
The town is of significance due to its role in Libyan border control, acting as a key point for travel between Libya and Algeria. Since the outbreak of war, many foreigners have tried to flee Libya by this point but anti-government protests have hindered this.
Battle
At the beginning of the uprising, Ghadames defected to the opposition with little incident, however, on the 22nd of March, Gaddafi sent a group of mercenaries to Ghadames, retaking it within the day. Ghadames has remained in Libyan government hands since.
