Plot
On July 18, 2010, CCE Entertainment released this statement concerning the film's plot:
*"The city of Suburbia has been overflowed with crime ever since the day of its conception. James Jackson (Jordan Cottle) lost his mother to it when he was very young. And now, nearly 10 years later, he unleashes his alter-ego, Bat-Kid, onto the city's streets to take on crime and bring justice back to the people. Teaming up with his inventor father (Steven Cottle) using a set of unique gadgets, Bat-Kid begins to win his war, until shamed scientist Dr. Isaac Funkystein (Adam T Cottle) tries to gain revenge over a betrayal he believes the city cast upon him. If the Creature of the Night is to succeed in defeating his arch nemesis, he will have to use all of his gadgets, combat moves and streetwise mind in order to prevail."
However, it was later announced that James' friend, Rob, would also be making an appearance in the movie , though he was not referenced in the original announcement.
Cast
*Jordan Cottle as James Jackson/Bat-Kid - A child martial arts expert, James becomes Bat-Kid to prevent his beloved home city of Suburbia from being taken over by the criminals of the city. CCE have announced that Bat-Kid's costume will "undergo several comic-to-screen alterations" to make it look better on camera.
*Adam T Cottle as Dr. Isaac Funkystein - In the comics, Funkystein is widely considered to be Bat-Kid's arch-nemesis, and has made several appearances dating all the way back to the first ever issue. The film will reportedly centre around his discovery of the element Zophurium, and of his construction of the Zyborg suit of armour.
*Nick Earl as Rob Mayborne - James' childhood friend, Rob eventually becomes Bat-Kids sidekick, Lil' Rob. However, Adam T Cottle has explained that Nick Earl "will not have to wear Lil' Rob's suit yet" as he did not want to many characters to appear in the first film.
*Steven Cottle as Alfie Jackson - Alfie is the man behind all of Bat-Kid's gadgets and weaponry, and is also James Jackson's father. In the comics, Alfie personally blames himself for his wife Susanne's death, as he was trying to sell his inventions to the army when she was murdered.
*Natalie Cottle as Susanne Jackson - CCE have said that Susanne will appear in the film and will "haunt James from the start to the end". In the comic books, Susanne was killed during a burgulary attempt on the Jackson household.
*Alex Westcott as Robin - CCE director Adam Cottle has admitted Alex is clearly a great actor for Robin.
*Richard Lam as the Ginger Ninja - Richard is just... special...

Marketing
The first teaser trailer for the film was released on August 1, 2010. On January 1, 2011, a second trailer was released, showing James turning himself into Bat-Kid.
