Barry Saunders

Barry Saunders is an African-American columnist for the News & Observer, a Triangle area newspaper. His articles appear every Tuesday and Friday in the Metro section, and in the Opinion section on Saturdays. He lives in Durham, North Carolina and his articles often center on recent happenings in the city.
Early life
Saunders grew up in Rockingham, North Carolina. As a teenager he had a job picking up litter at the now-defunct NASCAR racetrack. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Career
Barry Saunders published the Richmond County North Star from 1983 to 1986 and worked for the Post-Tribune in Gary, Ind. prior to joining the News and Observer.
