Barbera Hale Thornhill

Barbera Hale Thornhill is an American businesswoman, philanthropist and current nominee to be the United States Ambassador to Singapore. She was nominated by President Donald Trump on September 19, 2019.
Thornhill's nomination comes after Kirk Wagar, the previous ambassador, departed from the post in January 2017 following the end of the presidency of Barack Obama. In the period since, K. T. McFarland was nominated to be ambassador in May 2017. However, she withdrew her nomination in February 2018.
Early life and education
Thornhill previously attended the University of California, Los Angeles, George Washington University and North Carolina State University.
Career
Thornhill serves as president of interior design firm Impact Design, which is based in Los Angeles. Additionally, she is a member of the Getty Research Institute Council, Getty Paintings Council, World Affairs Council, and Pacific Council on International Policy. Thornhill's extensive philanthropic work also includes serving with the Children's Institute of Los Angeles, Library Foundation of Los Angeles, Boy Scouts of America and National Children's Chorus of Los Angeles and New York.
