Barbara Bauer Literary Agency

Barbara Bauer Literary Agency is an American company founded in 1984 by Barbara Bauer and based in New Jersey.

In 2008 Bauer sued a number of defendants including Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the Wikimedia Foundation, which is responsible for and other related sites, for defamation of character. The lawsuit against the Wikimedia Foundation was dismissed citing Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which states that operators of "interactive computer services" (such as ) cannot be held liable for users' comments, although the case against the other 20 defendants was unaffected. The Bauer case followed a similar prevention under the Communications Decency Act in an incident involving professional golfer Fuzzy Zoeller.
