Bani Walia

Bani Dixit Walia is the main character of the popular Hindi show Kasamh Se that airs on Zee TV. She is the oldest of three sisters, including Pia, who is the middle sister, and Rano, who is the youngest sister. Bani also has a dead twin, Anamika, who she found out about after marriage. The character is played by the actress Prachi Desai, later this character played by Gurdeep Kohli.

Bani and her sisters are from the small town of Mount Abu and after their fathers death they come to Mumbai. They end up staying at the house of Jai Walia, an old friend of their mothers. Mr. Walia ends up falling in love with the middle sister, Pia and they decide to get married. However on the wedding day Pia runs away with another man, Pushkar Shukla and Jai's evil sister Jigyasa suggests that Bani sits under the "mandap" until her sister returns but that doesn't happen and Bani ends up getting married to Jai Walia. Jai Walia at first hates her but the two eventually fall in love but fate gets in the way. In the Park Road Mystery it is revealed that Jai accidentally killed Anamika, Bani, Pia, and Rano's mother in a car accident. This causes Bani to hate Jai but she eventually forgives him. There are many obstacles that are in the way of their love including Roshni Chopra who Bani believed to be having an affair with her husband. When all problems are finally solved, Bani's sister Pia decides that she made a grave mistake by marrying Pushkar instead of Jai Walia who she was supposed to get married to. She decides that she wants to be Mrs. Jai Walia and tries everything to get her sister, Bani out of the way. She mixes drugs in Jai's drink one night and supposedly becomes pregnant with Jai's child. Bani and Jai love each other and Bani is also pregnant however before she tells Jai, Bani ends up finding out that her sister is pregnant with Jai's child as well. Bani is heartbroken and for a while goes into a state of mind where she doesn't say or do anything. To make matters worse Pia gets hold of a video that proves that Bani killed Sahil Walia the husband of Rano (Pia and Bani's youngest sister). To save Bani, Jai says in court that his wife is mad so that she will only have to stay in the asylum for five years as opposed to twenty. Bani who doesn't know this hates Jai and is taken to the mental asylum where she later gives birth to twins ( a girl and boy, Krishna and Attharva.)After all this the serial takes a leap of five years.Bani is living with Aparajit Deb who has some grudges against Jai And tries to use Bani for taking his revenge. Eventually Bani finds out that Jai Walia was not at fault. Meanwhile the kids are kidnapped; and Jai thinks Bani had an affair with someone else and killed them. Really they are killed by someone else. She is thrown out for five years and has a girl named Ganga. Jai Walia remarries to Meera, seemingly nice. Eventuallly Jai finds out that Bani is innocent. Ganga has cancer, and Bani has twins Atharva and Krishna (reborn) to save her. Now Meera's true color is shown when she says she killed the kids to get Jai to hate Bani. She tries to kill Atharva, whom Bani places in a basket. Meera lights Bani on fire; she falls into a river. Meera is unable to find Atharva and says Bani took him. All think Bani is dead.
Bani, now known as Pronita, lives with Partho Mitra who has adopted her. There is a 16 year leap. Pronita becomes Ganga's painting teacher and finds that Ganga, Krishna and Meera's son Vicky are doing drugs and tries to but cannot stop them. She regains her memory upon seeing the face of Meera. She sends Jai a recording of Meera helping the kids hide the drugs from their dad and he divorces Meera and marries Pronita. Meera and Pronita/Bani have a fight to reenact the day when Meera attacked Bani. Pronita wins in the end.
After marriage, Pronita/Bani taunts Meera. Ranvir works with Meera now. Jai supports his wife but the whole family hates him. Bani changes Ganga, her daughter, into being more considerate. Changes are also visible in Vicky. Bani shows the family a tape recording of Meera cheating Jai but the family forgives Meera. Meera frames Ganga and throws her into jail. Bani gets her out. The family begins to like her. They make Meera ask Bani for forgiveness. They still don't know who this woman really is, Bani.
