The New Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib International Airport is an approved international airport near Dhaka, Bangladesh. It will be the 4th International and 16th airport in Bangladesh. The airport will be built near the capital at a cost of Taka 50,000 crore (USD 7.2 billion) in next 10 years to cope with the growing air traffic. The site in yet to be picked to build the airport. Civil aviation officials said the proposed airport would be equal to the size of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport which has a capacity to serve 45 million passengers a year, 76 flights an hour and three million tonnes of cargo annually.<ref name="defence.pk"/>
