BallisticNG

BallisticNG is a free anti-gravity racing game currently in development for Windows by the small indie team Neognosis. The game is a fan homage to the Wipeout games seen on the PlayStation. The game started development in April 2015, was submitted onto Steam Greenlight in April 2016 and was then released on Steam Early Access in May 2016. It is planned to fully release at the end of 2017. The game can currently be downloaded for free on Steam.
The game takes place during the 2159 anti-gravity league, players can select from a number of corporations to race for on tracks set in various locations.
Gameplay
In BallisticNG players pilot anti-gravity racing ships on closed circuit tracks. Each ship has unique handling stats which provide a variety of different playstyles. Tracks are littered with pads which allow players to pickup weapons and receive a boost in speed. A random weapon is given to the player each time they fly over a weapon pad and they can rather be offensive or defensive. Offensive weapons allow the player to damage and slow opponents while defensive weapons, such as the shield, allow the player to protect themselves from other weapons.
Each track has a pit lane which allows players to restore their health once every lap at the expense of taking a short detour, two pickups also exist that allow the player to restore their health without the need of the pit lane.
The game features a campaign and a custom race setup. In the campaign you earn medals on a grid of events which add towards a total score, once the player has reached certain milestones they will unlock new grids to play on. Once all grids have been unlocked, the player can then play the Barracuda challenge, a tournament that takes the player back to back across all the tracks in the game. If the player wins the tournament they unlock the Barracuda Model A, the fastest standard ship in the game. Custom race allows you to setup races with your own rules.
Barracuda run two separate leagues alongside the anti-gravity league for two of their many ships. The Barracuda Model B and C ships are two ships exclusive to a different set of tracks with different gameplay focuses. The Model B is the drag ship, which has players piloting on simple but very long tracks at insane speeds. The Model C is the drift ship, which has players piloting on very compact but wide tracks with wide 90 degree corners which are built for drifting around.
User Generated Content
BallisticNG feature tools which enables players to create and add user-generated content to the game. The game has in game tools for importing meshes to create custom ships and an editor to produce track layouts. These tools have integrated Steam Workshop support. An external Unity package file, titled Ballistic Unity Tools, is also included which provides tools for configuring tracks inside of the Unity Editor. These tools expose players to the game's track system where they can edit a tracks tiles, sections, textures as well as import scenery and place logic objects such as the tracks lap lasers.
The game also features a photo mode which can be accessed from the pause menu. This mode allows the player to freely move around the track with free-look controls while the game is paused to take screenshots. This mode also has an experimental director mode, which allows players to animate the camera along a spline.
Players can also add their own music to the game by copying their music to a folder in the game's directory. Sounds can also be replaced, the game supports this through a sound pack system where users create a new folder in a sounds folder and then add the audio files for the sounds they want to replace in there.
Music
The majority of music in BallisticNG is composed by the developers, although the game also includes music composed by Shem, ShiftDelete, Paradise Decay and Shiryu. The games soundtrack has been put together based on songs that replicate the style of the 1990s era of electronic music and includes genres such as Techno, Jungle, Big Beat and Neurofunk.
The game's soundtrack has no official release, but it can be streamed for free.
