Bahram: An Iranian Rapper is a documentary film produced and directed by Sam Ali Kashani which intimately and explicitly exposes the reality of being a young hip-hop musician in Iran. The film features Iranian hip-hop artist, . Synopsis In a society where rap music is considered forbidden, Bahram has been able to break all social and political barriers, and successfully establish himself as one of the premier hip-hop artists in Iran's booming underground music movement. Since the age of 13, he has continued to develop his unique talents in songwriting, composition, and rapping, in addition to personally funding his work in a country where financial sponsorship for such an artistic venture is virtually non-existent. Even so, Bahram has achieved fame and recognition from Iranians and non-Iranians throughout the world, who appreciate his powerful lyrics, hard-hitting beats, and commanding vocal presence. History During the production of Tehran: Another Side, Kashani's directorial debut, Sam deeply explored the growing underground hip hop scene sweeping through the city of Tehran, meeting several rappers, producers, etc. It was at this time he met a young rapper by the name of Bahram Nouraei. After several interviews and hours of footage of Bahram recording in the studio, Kashani produced a documentary based solely on Bahram's music, and his everyday struggle to be heard in a country where such culture is completely prohibited. Bahram: An Iranian Rapper premiered at the Iranian Film Festival of San Francisco on September 10, 2011.
