On January 5, 2025, a shooting occurred at Al-Israa University College in Baghdad, resulting in six injuries. The assailant, identified as 19-year-old Ibrahim Ali Muhammad Jabr Al-Saadi, was not a student at Al-Israa University but was enrolled in the nursing program at Baghdad Private College of Medical Sciences. He entered the campus around noon, armed with two pistols and a bayonet, and opened fire, injuring three students, two security guards, and one administrative staff member. The university's security team responded swiftly, apprehending the shooter within 50 seconds without using firearms.
