Bacio Divino

Bacio Divino Cellars LLC is a family-owned winery in Napa Valley, California and is a recognized producer of first-quality red wines. / / The name Bacio Divino (when translated from the Italian means ‘Divine Kiss’) is the name of the company as well as the name of the first wine produced.
History
Bacio Divino, the first winemaking attempt by owner Claus Janzen, appeared on the market in the fall of 1997. After many years as a wine aficionado, he wanted to create his own unique wine. He endeavored to broaden the flavors and aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon, considered by many to be the ‘king’ of Napa Valley varietals. This vintage (1993) of Bacio Divino received the respect of the wine establishment and the brand continued to grow in popularity with each vintage.
After several years, Claus Janzen produced another red blend (Pazzo). The combination of the originality of the wine, the name and the packaging created a younger market for Pazzo.
The winery has slowly increased production and its portfolio of wines. More recently, it began to produce another proprietary red blend (Vagabond). It also produces three wines in its Cabernet Sauvignon (Janzen) program. Bacio Divino Cellars has remained a small family-owned and operated winery. It does not offer tours and tastings to the public.
Products
The winery produces six distinct wines.
The 1993 vintage of Bacio Divino was the first wine to enter the marketplace. It is a proprietary blend based primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with the addition of minimal amounts of Sangiovese and Petite Sirah. In subsequent vintages, Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be the dominant varietal but other varietals, such as Merlot and Syrah, are often included.
Pazzo (when translated from the Italian means ‘crazy’) was first introduced with the 2000 vintage. It is also a proprietary blend composed of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and very small amounts of several other varietals such as Viognier and Petite Sirah. The components and proportions vary with each vintage.
The next innovation for the winery was Vagabond. This wine, which is Syrah blended with a smaller amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, was first introduced with the 2004 vintage.

In 2007 the winery introduced Cabernet Sauvignon wines under the Janzen label and two vineyard-designate wines were released: the Janzen ‘Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon, which is produced only from fruit from this historic vineyard in Oakville and the Janzen ‘Cloudy’s Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon, which is produced from one of the family’s estate vineyards.
The most recent addition is the Janzen Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit for this wine is sourced from several vineyards in the Napa Valley.
