Bachelors Abroad

Bachelors Abroad is a National Geographic Channel reality show first aired on January 12, 2013. The show follows a group of American men on a romance tour to the Ukraine where the bachelors had the chance to meet hundreds of single Ukrainian women in a few days. The show focuses on three men: "Joe", "Bill", and "Bob" as they try to deal with the strange situation of being in a position where women are pursuing them. The show follows them as they travel across the Ukraine and meet women both on individual dates and at large socials where hundreds of Ukrainian women come to meet the guys at evening parties.
The tour was organized by A Foreign Affair, a Phoenix, Arizona based international dating company. The show did not have a true narrator, but John Adams, the President of A Foreign Affair, explained a lot of the subtext to the audience.
This episode mostly focused on socials in Kharkov and Poltava.
Discussion board controversy
The Bachelors Abroad discussion board on the National Geographic website, allegedly removed comments, including those posted by Peter Christopher, owner of ChristianFilipina.com. On 26 February 2013, some of the comments were restored by National Geographic but the comment section was subsequently locked. As described at the ChristianFilipina blog, the contention at the message board revolved around the question whether National Geographic had failed to provide a scientific and educational program, stating, "A presentation on Bachelors Abroad is not much more than an infomercial for one particular company if it does not engage with these other services as well as the men and women who meet entirely on their own accord with no intermediary whatsoever." As of 27 February 2013, the messageboard was again open for comments.
