Awale Olad (, ) is a Somali-British politician. He is a former Chairman of the Somali Youth Development Resource Centre. In May 2010, Olad was elected as a Labour Party Councillor representing the Holborn and Covent Garden ward in Camden. Personal life Olad was born in Somalia. He later emigrated to the United Kingdom. Olad attended the William Ellis Secondary School in Highgate, London. For his post-secondary studies, he earned an MA in European Studies from King's College London. He resides in Holborn. The organization annually holds an honours event to reward high-achieving Somali pupils. Olad concurrently worked as a parliamentary researcher. Additionally, Olad is a Public & Parliamentary Affairs Officer at the Migrants Rights Network, where he coordinates the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Migration. In May 2010, Olad ran again for the municipal council seat. He earned 1,784 of votes or 12.78% of the ballot, becoming the Labour Party Ward Councillor for Camden's Holborn and Covent Garden neighbourhood. The win makes him the borough's first Somali councillor. Olad serves in this capacity on the Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee.
