Awal Sulemana, a nurse trainee and a former 400m runner in Apam Senior High School is Ghana's first pitch invader. According to sources, the intrusion occurred as a result of Awal's attempt to take a selfie with Ghana and Atlético Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey during an AFCON qualifier against South Africa on Thursday 14th November, 2019 at the Cape Coast Stadium. Arrest Awal was arrested and detained based on the FIFA Stadium Safety and Security Regulations which talks about the unauthorized distraction of an active game that might lead to threats to player's life and that of match officials. |
