Avaya Communication Manager

Avaya Aura Communication Manager (CM) is a call processing system developed by Avaya with voice application software, messaging and contact center. This system is a telecommunication product which allows VoIP on legacy installed PBX systems and offers a migration path to install VoIP as resources become available. The CM is a successor to the Definity Communication Servers platform, although the CM is still based on the Definity code.
Avaya Aura Communication Manager is a component of Avaya Aura, Avaya's architecture for next generation, people-centric collaboration. Avaya Aura Communication Manager software is an open IP Telephony foundation on which Avaya delivers Unified Communications solutions to enterprises of all sizes. Avaya Aura Communication Manager delivers voice and video capabilities and provides for a resilient, distributed network of gateways and analog, digital and IP-based communication devices. Avaya Aura Communication Manager includes robust PBX features, high reliability and scalability, and multi-protocol support. It includes advanced mobility features, built-in conference calling and contact center applications, and E911 capabilities. Communication Manager effectively scales from less than 100 users to as many as 36,000 users on a single system, and to more than one million users on a single network.

Operation Mode
This system can function as a Feature Server (CM-FS) or an Evolution Server (CM-ES). As a CM-FS only SIP endpoints are deployed, as a CM-ES all SIP, analog, DCP, H.323 and legacy endpoints are supported. When deployed as a CM-ES, Session Manager is required to support SIP endpoints.
Scales
The system can scale from less than 100 users to 36,000 users per system, and to more than one million users on a single network.
