Ataria

Ataria is the Salburua wetland's ambiental interpretation centre. Is a building with emblematic character and perfectly integrated in the North of the Salburua park. Is one of the most important place of the Vitoria - Gasteiz's Green Ring.This place is done for favor the knowlegde of the wetlands and show their natural values and the importance of the biodiversity and the natural heritage of the Vitoria-Gasteiz township.
This space is open for the public , which leaning in a big amount of resources and servicies such as classrooms, obsevatory or exhibition space will welcome any type of activities of leisure and entertaiment, interpretation, disclosure and comunication, study and investigation about the biodiversity.And wants to became in a forum for discussion and the creation of ideas, where the public could get involve and participate in the own management of the park and in the preservation of the biodiversity.
The building
Ataria occupies a singular building in the north of the Salburua wetland's.It seems to be viewpoint but within it has many different areas such as the lobby, the permanent exhibits, the temporary exhibition hall, the living room , the viewpoint, the laboratory, the assembly hall, the video and the rafts. Where binoculars, bicycles or field guides can be borrow.

Is the point for the reception and the attention to the public. Is the place to inform about the routes around the park and the Green Ring.
Ataria's sundial
The sundial of Ataria is an analematic type of watch. It has an ellipse draw in the ground above the one are put the digits with the hours, and a central zone where a person, by way of a gnomon, must be located above the analemma, in a particular point according to the date so his or her shadow will proyect the hour in the ellipse.
This watch mark the official time, that's why it has two time zones: the one of the summer and the one of the winter.It has the necessary corrections for the shadow indicating the average time of Greenwich, and at the same time, to give the official time.
For example this watch marks the same time in Atenas and in Vitoria-Gasteiz but it has some corrections done to have the same time, even if in Atenas the sunset is approximately an hour earlier.
