Association of Contract Research (ACRO) is an organization formed under the patronage of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in February 2005, with an aim of bringing all Contract Research Organization (CRO’s) operating in India on one common platform. ACRO conducted a survey through which it examined it own members. As a conclusion of which 11,508 trials were carried out by ACRO and they found that each CRO was involved in more than 750 studies on an average. There are issues concerned over controversial new Indian rules on trial participant compensation for study-related injuries and the controversy is likely to spark changes that may be difficult and time consuming to implement, according to industry sources.
