Association for the Research of Anatolian Folk Beliefs

The Association for the Research of Anatolian Folk Beliefs (AHAD, Anadolu Halk İnançlarını AraÅŸtırma DerneÄŸi) is a Turkish voluntary association established in 2007. Its headquarters is in Dikmen, Ankara. Following the first general assembly in March 31, 2007, İlhan Cem Erseven was elected as the first president of the association. The following people are also members of the first governing board: Mustafa Åžen, Nilüfer Nahya, Meral Salman, and Aykan Erdemir. AHAD's aims range from academic research and publishing to advocacy. The association particularly focuses on study and defense of non-Sunni religious groups in Turkey and the Middle East. AHAD is informally linked to the Kirkbudak: Journal of Anatolian Folk Beliefs.
