KapaleeshwararSwamy During Arupathimoovar Festival This festival is supposed to be celebrated in order to praise the Saivaite Devotees namely Nayanmars who are 63 in numbers. The procession is celebrated by taking Nayanmars in a "Pallaq" which is highly decorated with ornaments and flowers, facing Lord Shiva and Parvati and proceeding further. Some Nayanmars will be sharing a single pallaq. The Moovar "Appar", "Sundarar", "ThirugyanaSambandar" will be carried a unquie Pallaq.
Karpagambal During Arupathimoovar Festival Goddess Karpagambal will be dressed in beautiful saree decorated with colourful fragance flowers. During Friday worship, Goddess Karpagambal will be decorated with "KAASU MAALA" (Garland with Gold Coins). This was contributed by a group of devotees. It is a boon to worship during this seva. Many Scholors have raised songs on Goddess Karpagambal. "KARUNAI DEIVAME KARPAGAME" and "KARPAGAVALLI NIN PORPADHANGAL PIDITHEN" were famous Tamil Songs written by poets praising Goddess Karpagambal. There is a small peacock and peahen cage inside the temple, inorder to remember that Goddess had come in the form of peahen to pleade the Lord. It is very exciting to see the Peahen.
Nardhana Vinayakar During Arupathimoovar Festival Lord Ganesha is taken first in the festival. He is actually in dancing posture so he is called as "Nardhana Vinayakar". He is offered grass garland, mothaka sweets. He is considered to the first god for any occasion.
SingaraVelar During Arupathimoovar Festival SingaraVelar Swamy will accompany Lord KapaleeshwararSwamy and Karpagambal. He is called SingaraVelar because of his beauty. The Moolavar Sthanam will have his consorts Valli and Deivayani.
KolaVizhiAmman During Arupathimoovar Festival KolaVizhi Amman Temple is considered to be the ancient temple before Kapaleeshwarar Temple. The Goddess has beautiful eyes (Kola Vizhi) and she cures diseases. The temple is at Mylapore near Kutchery Road. People used to offer Pongal worship during the Tamil Month 'Adi' for Goddess. Kolavizhi Amman will be heading the Arupathimoovar Festival.
MundakanniAmman During Arupathimoovar Festival MundaKanni Amman Temple is very famous for "Snake Worship". The Goddess present has got "Big Eyes" (Munda Kannu). It is a place for treating diseases. We could see a snake Worship behind the Sannidhi. People will offer milk to snakes. People will celebrate by offering 'Paal Kudam' (Milk Pot) to Goddess. The Temple is near Kutchery Road. Celebrations will be during the Tamil Month 'Adi' for the Goddess. People also keep their children near the idol to treat from diseases.
Other events in Arupathimoovar Festival Huge gathering takes place at Mylapore. Lot of sweets, savouries, juices, buttermilk are served to the pilgrims. At each stage, there is Aarti and offering flowers to the God and Goddess by a small angel flying from top of the decorated shed. Its nice to see the ancient tradition being followed. People from nearby villages will also attend this function.
