The character is portrayed by Australian comedian Garry McDonald. Arthur is a divorced single man who lives with his mother Maggie. He is revealed to be 35 years old in the show. He is constantly being used by his brother Robert. When his father died he promised his father that he would look after Maggie. Throughout the show it is revealed that he has a number of girlfriends like Wendy and Meredith. Arthur was married to Deidre but they divorced. Arthur is a journalist for The Australian newspaper. His 3 best friends are Igor, Leonard and Jeffrey. Throughout his life he constantly would fight with his brother, while Robert and his wife Liz plans to put Maggie into a home, Arthur tries to stop them from doing that.
