THE INTERNET IS VERY BIG
and unfortunately most of the competitions that actually apply to us will be right at the bottom of your search results. Try googling “essay competitions for high school students” right now and the firs 10 results you get will not apply to Zimbabwean students- which is well and fine, but where do our high school students turn for essay contests and competitions?
SOME OPPORTUNITIES AND COOL THINGS TO DO AREN’T PUBLISHED ONLINE.
The trouble is, most opportunities and events in Zimbabwe are not advertised online. It is therefore difficult for someone remotely located to come into contact with these amazing chances for growth.
Where do they turn to for entrepreneurship competitions to incubate their ideas and turn them into thriving businesses that refresh and revitalize our economy? If the next generation cannot be empowered and furnished with the resources they need to grow, does that bode well for our future? Students have to participate in activities that allow them to apply their ideas. There is no better forum for this than the overwhelming array of international and local opportunities that exist today.
The importance of exposure in forming responsible, innovative youth cannot be overestimated. Innovative ideas are formed when minds from different cultures and backgrounds meet and mix. When this happens, ideas worth spreading and sharing are formed. When young people interact, ideas that shape and make the future the world needs are conceived.
