During the first book in the series we meet Aphrodite and at first we are given the impression that she is slutty and that she is hateful and mean. She is disliked by most of the school and is referred to by Zoey Redbird’s friends as the Hag from Hell. At the beginning of the book when Neferet is introducing Zoey Redbird to the other girls at the school, we officially meet Aphrodite and learn that she is the leader of the Dark Daughters, which is an exclusive club, this also means that she is High Priestess in training. Zoey immediately takes a dislike to her and stands up to Aphrodite when she is teasing Stevie Rae Johnson, who is Zoey’s roommate. Zoey feels that Aphrodite is not doing what Nyx would approve of and so she decides to take matters into her own hands and make Aphrodite lose her position of popularity. During Zoey’s first Dark Daughters meeting Aphrodite tricks her into drinking blood in a hope that it will scare Zoey and make her leave, however Zoey returns to the club and goes to the Samhain ritual where Aphrodite tries to summon the spirits of their vampyre ancestors, however things go terribly wrong an Zoey and her gang need to step in to restore things to order. Neferet who has seen all of the events then takes the position of leader of the Dark Daughters and High Priestess in training from Aphrodite and gives it to Zoey. Aphrodite then confronts Zoey on their way back to campus and says that they are being used like puppets.
