Anthony S Adams

Anthony S. Adams, born August 1, 1970 in Wooster, Ohio and raised in Orange County, California, is a serial Silicon Valley Entrepreneur and Executive.
Adams currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. For almost 20 years, Adams has been in the technology industry and has held Senior Executive, Product Management, Marketing, Architecture, and Strategy Positions. Adams is also a successful serial entrepreneur, with credit for founding or being an initial executive at six early stage companies.
Career
Early career
Adams served in the , where he was Honorably Discharged and then worked as a commercial air, mixed gas, and saturation diver for Oceaneering International (based in The Gulf Of Mexico). He eventually transferred to their engineering division, Solus Schall (based in Houston, Texas; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Lagos, Nigeria) and was responsible for the initial deployment of CAIRS (Computer Aided Inspection Reporting System) for Chevron Corporation, providing real-time insights and inspection results for their Nigerian sub-sea oil and gas operations.
1990's
Upon leaving Solus Schall and relocating back to the United States, Adams founded Adams Computer Innovations (1990 in Irvine, California), which was later incorporated as Integration Technologies, Inc. (1991) and ran as a successful Mid-range and Mainframe/Supercomputer integration services firm until Adams sold the assets to Saddleback Capital Partners in 1993. Adams worked for 3Com Corporation and then moved to Wells Fargo Bank where he served as the Bank’s Wide-Area Infrastructure Technologist and Architect, responsible for the migration of the network from Wellfleet to 3Com, and telecommunications integration of acquired First Interstate Bancorp. Adams was also team lead responsible for service restoral and network re-design after the September 1996 outages that forced the bank to miss the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank’s FedWire.
In 1995, Adams started with FORE Systems where he quickly rose through the ranks and ended his 6 year tenure with the firm (after being acquired by Marconi Communications) as the head of their Silicon Valley Technology Center, focused on high speed Packet/Frame Switching Technologies, Intelligent Protocol Routing Algorithms, Network Security & Encryption functionality, as well as , and . During his time at FORE/Marconi, Adams was responsible for the conception and launch of numerous award winning Ethernet and ATM Edge Switching Platforms and contributed to many corporate patents relating to intelligent routing, data buffering technologies, and algorithms. Adams was also responsible for the ESX Multi-Gigabit Layer-3 Switching Platform that was certified as the fastest available non-blocking routing switch in 1998.
2000's
From 2002 to 2004, Adams served with Cradle Technologies, heading the Fabless Semiconductor’s migration from video processing to cryptography and telecommunications processing. During that time Adams worked alongside Silicon Valley luminaries such as Dr. Suhas Patil (Cradle Chairman) and Michael Hackworth (Cradle Board Member) to develop functionality for Cradle’s revolutionary that integrated 24 , 4 RISC Processors and surrounded this compute platform with a software definable I/O Subsystem. Adams spent a majority of 2003 and 2004 working between the corporate offices in Fremont, California and Cradle’s Technology Center in Pune, India. Cradle’s chip also set an industry record in 2004/2005 for the highest single-chip DSP performance. Adams is also an investor in Cradle Technologies.
In 2004, Adams founded Egation Communications a based in the San Francisco Bay Area and focused on delivering high speed Internet Access, Private Line Services, and Telephone. Egation was a leader in deploying microwave wireless and WiMAX technology to support Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) and Point-to-Point (PtP) telecommunications services in the 5.8 GHz unlicensed U-NII and 2.4 GHz ISM Bands. Egation was also one of the top FCC license holders in the San Francisco Bay Area for 11 GHz and 24 GHz Fixed Wireless and the first deploy 60 GHz and 80 GHz licensed multi-gigabit wireless backhaul. Adams Sold Egation to WiLine Networks in 2005 and continued on with the firm until 2006. Egation/WiLine assisted in setting a 60 GHz Wireless Distance Record in 2005 and in 2006 co-deployed the first E-Band Gigabit Wireless link based on the revised FCC Antenna rules. Adams also spoke at numerous industry events including the Keynote General Session for Broadband Wireless World and co-hosted FCC Chairman, Michael Powell, at Broadband Access Network Coordination (BANC) Group’s General Session in 2004.
In 2006, Adams founded Anthocaré Group which was comprised of Anthocaré Media (a full-service pre and post production digital media agency), Anthocaré Vineyards (producing limited production, single vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon wine), and Anthocaré Ventures (a niche Angel and Micro-Seed Investor fund). Adams ran the firm until 2008 and still serves as Chairman of the remaining Fund and Winery.
2010 And Beyond
Adams Joined UBM Think Services in 2008 as their CIO and Vice-President of Technology Strategy and Implementation. Adams served on the Board of Directors and in that capacity until 2010, when UBM Think Services was integrated with TechWeb, forming UBM TechWeb, where Anthony served as CTO and Senior Vice-President for Marketing Services, Product Strategy, and Delivery. Adams was also a member of UBM TechWeb’s Senior Operating Board where he co-chaired the Marketing Services Board Committee.
In 2011, Adams moved to Ziff Davis Enterprise where he currently serves as Senior Vice-President of Products.
