Anne Stephenson is a violinist who is probably best known for her work with Virginia Astley, Humouresque, Marc Almond and The Communards amongst others.
Early life Anne Stephenson studied violin at the Guildhall School Of Music And Drama as a pupil of Suzanna Rosza.
Musical career Early collaboration work included working with Virginia Astley. From 1986 to 1990 she performed with The Communards both in live and studio performances. She was also part of Humouresque alongside Caroline Lavelle and Virginia Hewes.
She has also performed as an actress/violinist in productions at the ICA and National theatre.
Her flexibility as a live performer also saw her joining Marc Almond both as part of The Venomettes and also Marc and the Mambas. Since then, she has also played with groups ranging from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to The Cure and Siouxsie & the Banshees; and from the Manic Street Preachers to the Brilliant Strings Quartet (featuring her former Venomettes bandmate Gini Ball, née Hewes).
From the late 90's, Stephenson also enjoyed a residency at the classical music bar Bartok's in London where she performed alongside the likes of Gini Ball and Dinah Beamish.
Family Stephenson's son Pete Bennett won Big Brother 2006 and is a former lead singer of Daddy Fantastic.
