Anne Abgott

Anne Abgott (born 1938 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) is a watercolor artist. She is the author of the book Daring Color, published by North Light Books.
Biography
Anne Cecilia Abgott (née Workman) is the daughter of Mary and Lloyd Workman. Anne grew up in Oshawa, attended Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Institute, where she excelled in art. She graduated in June 1957.
Abgott began painting in the 1960s when she was tutored by oil painter Alexander Luke, After attending secretarial school, Abgott worked for General Motors Canada where she met and married Charles Annibal Root. Her painting ceased while she started a family. After a 20 year break, she started painting again in 1992 with a painting group on Anna Maria Island, Florida.<ref name="Bradenton obsession" />
Abgott is a member of the Florida Watercolor Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, as well as the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. In October 2009, Anne Abgott was named a signature member of the National Watercolor Society.<ref name="Bradenton obsession" />
Abgott is the past President of the Florida Watercolor Society (2006) and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society and is a longtime member of the Board of Directors of ArtCenter Manatee in Bradenton, Florida. She chairs their Education Department.
Abgott teaches workshops across the United States and Canada.<ref name="Bradenton obsession" /> She lives in Cortez, Florida and Linville Ridge, North Carolina.

Awards since 2006 include 12 Best in Show and 1st Prizes, as well as over 35 other awards including;
*Finalist in "International Artist" magazine "Objects of Delight" Oct/Nov 2001
*Honorable Mention for her painting, Rendezvous With Jack. Virginia Highlands Festival (2003)
*People's Choice Award at the Florida Watercolor Society Exhibition (2007)
*First prize in the Florida Suncoast Waterclor Society Show (November 2008)
*Art Points Net Award at the 60th Texas Watercolor Society National Juried Exhibition (2009)
