Ann Cookson

Catherine Ann Cookson, (born November 15, 1939) in Fulwood, Lancashire, England is a former lecturer and biologist at Lancaster University during the 1980s and 1990s. Known professionally as Ann Wilkins, she later divorced and became known under her maiden name.
Career
Her contributions to germination amongst organisms, and study of blue green algae along with Professor Peter Lea were placed into the Journal of General Microbiology, one of the best known serial tomes used in the science field. Her work in the laboratories along with her students and staff have greatly improved the understanding of how algae has been implemented into every living organisms DNA and the forensic science field has found a great link between fingerprint examination and microorganism cell structure.
