Angelo Manioudakis

Angelo Manioudakis (born 1966) is the former Senior Vice President of Fixed Income at OppenheimerFunds. Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds, Manioudakis was a Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley Investment Management and worked at GE Capital Corporation. He has a B.S in Finance from Bentley College and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
Oppenheimer Funds
Manioudakis is known for overseeing the Core Bond Fund division at OppenheimerFunds and, after a management shakeup, the Champion Income Fund starting in 2006. The division managed more than $16 billion in investment fund assets. Under Manioudakis, the Core Bond fund (OPIGX) experienced top quartile returns across the division for six years. In the wake of severe market turbulence, Champion Income fund (OPCHX) sustained losses of 78% in 2008, and the Oppenheimer Core Bond fund (OPIGX) was off 35%. The funds performance is attributed to the global financial crisis in mortgage-backed securities and credit default swap contracts. Other U.S. bond funds either lost far less or gained value, making the Oppenheimer funds some of the worst ranking bond funds in the U.S. market in 2008.
Oregon, Illinois College Savings Plan Investigation
State investigations are underway in Oregon and Illinois to see if the funds managed by Manioudakis at Oppenheimer made improper investments or misrepresentations to investors since similar funds managed by other investment companies showed a positive return of about 5 percent last year. OppenheimerFunds is cooperating with the investigations and its CEO has declared publicly that "that each of the investments the Fund made complied with the Fund's stated investment policies and applicable regulatory
requirements."
Illinois is pursuing a potential lawsuit against OppenheimerFunds to try to recoup some of the money lost in the bond fund, alleging gross mismanagement.
Manioudakis resigned from Oppenheimer on December 12, 2008.
