Andrew Steel

Andrew Steel originally from Kingston upon Hull is a former Royal Navy non-commissioned officer who served for 13 years before resigning and relocating to Asia to take up a management position in the energy sector in Sri Lanka before leaving to work in the forestry sector.
A keen sportsman that represented the Royal Navy and the Combined Services (now Great Britain Armed Forces) at Rugby League. Steel also captained the Royal Navy Rugby League team for 4 years and is heavily involved with the development of the sport in Thailand where he now resides. Steel was also instrumental in the set up of Rugby League in the Royal Navy from its inception in 1996.
As an entrepreneur Steel continues to inspire people and has featured as a luminary in Inspire me Today penning an article 'What's the cost of a great life' giving his view on money and life and was a contributing author on the UNFAO publication 'Guidelines for formulating National Forest Finance Strategies'
History
1996 - 2000 - Captained the Royal Navy Rugby League team
2005 - Founder of the UK charity 'PATT Foundation' or Plant A Tree Today Foundation aimed at planting 1 million trees in Asia and tackling environmental education.
2005 - Sydney Graduate School of Management: Directors Award
2006 - Established a commercial forestry entity that has become a pioneer in its specialized field of Aquilaria plantation management. The company has grown from its humble beginnings and is now a respected entity operating under the name of The Treedom Group
2006 - XL Results Foundation - Entrepreneur Business School 2006 - Winner
2012 - Honorary Doctorate awarded by the University of Hull as a Doctor of Science honoris causa
