Andrew Newman cyber-security entrepreneur, co-founded GIANT Company Software (Anti-Spyware), acquired by Microsoft (as Microsoft AntiSpyware, Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials), before shifting to building a few VC funded search Sortuv and mobile platforms Red Foundry. After GIANT’s acquisition by Microsoft, Newman has authored and hold multiple patents around cybersecurity. Newman currently serves as the Founder and CEO of Reason Cybersecurity.
Biography
GIANT Company Software, Sortuv and Red Foundry
In 2000, Andrew Newman Co-founded, together with Ronald Franczyk, GIANT Company Software — developer of internet security products, including GIANT Spam Inspector, GIANT Popup Inspector, and GIANT AntiSpyware.
On December 16, 2004, GIANT was acquired by Microsoft Corporation and implemented its antispyware solution as the basis of its core technology, Windows Defender.
Following the acquisition, Andrew Newman served as Microsoft’s Lead Security Program Manager for a total of three years and two months. During this time, he participated in the development of the first version of Microsoft Anti-Spyware and designed the company’s second-generation antimalware platform which would ultimately become Windows Defender. He led numerous research-related malware detection projects for internal and external consumption, before ending his tenure at Microsoft in December 2007.
Over the course of the following four years, Newman worked at VC funded company, Sortuv, focused on graph search. Sortuv later merged with Red Foundry, a mobile SDK.
Reason Cybersecurity
Andrew Newman is the CEO of Reason Cybersecurity, a company he founded in 2012.
Reason Cybersecurity was established to protect consumers against existing and emerging digital security threats.
Reason produces a portfolio of anti-malware and security solutions, including Reason Core Security engine and software development kit SDK, their flagship malware, adware and potentially unwanted programs PUPs solution. Reason's technology engine scans over one billion files in 180 countries each day.
