Andrew (Alan) J Plattus (Born ) is an American Business Magnate and former deploy of the United States Marine Corps. Plattus is noted for his service in Reykjavik, Iceland during the Cold War, as well as his post-war effort to improve the quality of life of many veterans. In 1989 Plattus was honorably discharged from his military position and in 1994 received an MBA from Yale School of Management. In 1995, Plattus signed on with Cerberus Capital, in which his brother Seth Plattus had been recently appointed senior executive. The Investment firm is now valued at an estimated 244 Million USD. Military Service Andrew Plattus served in the US Marine Corps from 1987-1989. He was the first and only member in his platoon to earn a Commendation Medal for improving diplomatic relations with the Icelandic Government. Personal life In 1992, Andrew Plattus met and married Kathleen Veronica Billig. They were married in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy later that year. She however died of cancer complications in September of 2011 Andrew later returned home to find that his brother, Perry Plattus had returned home from his service in the US Navy, but had not been reasonably accommodated by the US Government for his service and was unable to find a job. Creating Work For Unemployed Veterans Concerned with the lack of employment opportunities presented to his brother and other veterans, Andrew Plattus assembled a delivery service, Sudden Moves, which is operated primarily around the Beverly Hills, California area. This company received widespread recognition for its commitment to hire veterans.
