And we remained

And We Remained is an epistolary novel. The book starts in 1990’s India, when there are tremendous socio-economic changes taking place. The book is a coming of age story of five engineering friends— Sahir, Sandeep, Gopal, Anand, and David— and the women in their lives, especially the beautiful Wardha. Their intertwined story is told by these friends through first person accounts of events in their engineering college, contrasted in alternate chapters with their lives a few years later when they keep in touch, narrate events in their lives, and share their experiences in India and abroad through emails.
The novel is written by Asad Ali Junaid, a techie based out of Bangalore. Junaid also conceptualized and designed the cover page, formatted the novel for publication, and self-published it.
Set at a fictional engineering college, Vidyakeerthi University (ECVU) of Bangalore, it is a tale of friendship between five students, Sahir Hassan and Sandeep Gadwal from electrical engineering, Gopal Veeranjaneyalu and Anand Nair from mechanical engineering, and David Williams from Electronics. The novel starts in the late nineties, the eve of the economic liberalization period in India, and ends in 2012. Various shades of campus life and ups and downs in the lives of the protagonists are narrated. The story line presents a trustworthy picture of campus life during the 1990s in India and the 2000's in the US.
