Anastasia Lyra is a Greek dancer, choreographer. Movement improvisation, classical music and public space performances constitute her main interests. Her most representative work consists in solo and duo performances as well as big group choreography and movement actions. She is especially interested in slow movement. She graduated from the State School of Dance in Athens and has been a student of Robert Ellis Dunn in New York. She has been presenting work since 1984. She has collaborated with Steve Paxton, Sara Rudner, Vyacheslav Ganelin, Cecil Taylor, Domna Samiou, Artemis Alcalay, Eleni Manolopoulou, Peter Kowald, Psarantonis, Ilias Papadopoulos, Eleftheria Deko and many Greek dance artists. In 1996 she created Sxedia Dance Company which she directed till 2004 and collaborated with Danza Contemporanea de Cuba. She is currently presenting her work in Microscopico Theatro in Athens.
