Amita Birla

Amita Birla, born in 1956, is an Indian businesswoman who is a chairman of Birlasoft and Co-chairnman of National Engineering Industries. She is also leading organizational transformation initiative within the CK Birla Group.
Career
Early life
Amita Birla is the daughter of Raj Bagri, Baron Bagri. She spent the first part of her life in the United Kingdom and studied at Queen's College, London. She subsequently moved back to India.
Current Positions
She serves as the Chairman of Birlasoft and Co-chairman of National Engineering Industries Limited. She is also a Director of The Indian Smelting And Refining Company Limited and Neosym Industries Limited. She has been Non-Executive Director of Orient Cement Limited since March 27, 2015. She is the Chairman of the Governing Body of the CK Birla Hospitals which includes 3 Hospitals - CMRI, BM Birla Heart Research Centre and Rukmani Birla Hospital. Together with her husband CK Birla, she is involved in philanthropic activities. She heads CK Birla Group's philanthropic activities ranging from Science and Technology Centers to Art and Sculpture. She has worked very closely with non-government organizations that pioneered new ways of training and sensitizing law enforcement agencies. She is also working to strengthen the education and empowerment for women, and now works with individuals and groups in helping women redefine standards for themselves.
