Amit Upadhyay

Amit Madhusoodhan Upadhyay (born 29 September 1978) is an Indian academic and former first-class cricketer.
Upadhyay was born at Bombay in September 1978. He later studied at Bangalore University, before gaining a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford in England, where he attended St Antony's College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he made a single appearance in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Cambridge University in The University Match of 2004 at Oxford. Batting once in the match, he made 34 runs in the Oxford first innings before being dismissed by Anush Newman.
Upadhyay returned to India where he studied for his doctorate in sociology at Bangalore University. He is currently an assistant professor at the School of Livelihoods and Development at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad.<ref name="PRO"/> His uncle, N. Prahalad, has also played first-class cricket.
