Amit is the former Head Principal Scientist, of Softbank Robotics Europe, Paris, the company created Humanoid robots Nao.
Education & career
Amit has completed his B.Tech from JIIT, Noida. In 2007, Amit obtained MS by Research degree in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Robotics from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad. Earlier for 6 years he worked as researcher in Robotics and AI at LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse, France. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Robotics from INSA, University of Toulouse. He is among the three finalists of the prestigious Georges Giralt PhD Award in 2013.
Amit started working in the field of Robotics in 2005 while pursuing MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Robotics, at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H).
Amit is the founding coordinator of Socially Intelligent Robots and Societal Applications (Eu-Robotics).
Amit started working on Humanoid robot in 2008. He is the active contributor in the Multi-Annual Roadmap (MAR) and Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) of euRobotics. Amit worked with French National Centre for Scientific Research for 2 years. Then he started working on Humanoid robot in 2008 during his Ph.D. while working as the research fellow in Robotics and AI at LAAS-CNRS (the French National Centre for Scientific Research) Toulouse, France. The early humanoid robots he worked on were HRP2 Robot and PR2 Robots.
He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Robotics from INSA (National Institute for Applied Sciences), University of Toulouse. His Ph.D. thesis title is Towards Socially Intelligent Robots in Human-Cantered Environment, and was evaluated as the best three Theses in Robotics in Europe for the prestigious Georges Giralt PhD Award in 2013 and eventually awarded the Second Prize (tie) for the best PhD thesis. This has given his research work bigger attention in the scientific community. He then moved to robotics industry with the aim to achieve innovation and have impact of robotics research into the society. and also the scientific coordinator (Research & Development) of the collaborative projects.
In 2018, Pandey received GOPIO France Achievers & Community Service Award by Benjamin Griveaux for his contribution in Science & Technology, AI Robotics and Education.
He spoke in many national and International events & conferences in Robotics such as IEEE RO-MAN 2019 (Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi), TedX Chandigarh. and GOPIO Biennial Convention 2019 (Berlin).
In 2019 he served as the general chairs in International Conference on Robotics IEEE RO-MAN 2019. In the same year he appointed as President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Science Officer (CSO) at Hanson Robotics.
