American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan

The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) is a voluntary not-for-profit member based organization that contributes to the economic development through the promotion of U.S Jordan regional trade and investment, business development, public policy advocacy, human resources development and business community outreach. AmCham-Jordan plays a leading role in expanding economic growth and opportunities, through the enhancement of trade and investment between Jordan and the U.S. On February 4, 1999, the Jordanian Government officially approved the registration of the Jordanian American Business Association (JABA) -- currently The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) -- as a not-for-profit organization chartered with the mission of promoting trade and investment between Jordan and the United States of America. The concept behind JABA came about a meeting called for by former U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. William Burns, in October 1999. The meeting debated ways to promote U.S.-Jordanian business relations. The initial formation of the council was launched during AmCham-Jordan's American Jordanian Expo 2004. The American Chambers of Commerce in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria signed a protocol launching the AmCham Middle East North Africa (MENA) Regional Council initiative in Beirut, Lebanon in July 2005.
