American Association for Couples and Family Therapy

(AACFT) is a new-model association for relationship therapists. Traditional professional organizations, such as AAMFT rely on large membership fees and provide a broad spectrum of professional support services, from certification to political lobbying. New-model professional organizations, such as AACFT, rely more on informal, web-centered communication circles to address professional issues. By eliminating the drag of a large, bureaucratic organization, AACFT is more focused on providing informational support for relationship therapists. Being a light-weight organization, AACFT can adapt more quickly to current practice needs. Unlike the traditional professional organizations, like AAMFT, AACFT maintains as its focus the development, implementation, research, and dissemination of knowledge and skills related to relationship therapy.
