Ambadas Saidu Shinde

Ambadas Saidu Shinde (born April 1, 1949) was born in village Kusalamb taluka Barshi district Solapur. He is among the present social reformers of contemporary Indian society.He took inspiration from the great social reformers Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar & Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in his childhood.
His was born in poor mahar family. His father's name was Saidu Sakharam Shinde and he was kotwal by his profession under British raj. His father has 12 children out of it 7 were daughter and 5 sons. Three daughter and one son survived.
Childhood
He completed his secondary education in Gandhi Chatralaya,Barshi and bachelor's degree in Geography from Dayanand College
Solapur. He started his career as teacher in Swami Vivekanand high school,Tuljapur.
Political
His mind was unrest due to atrocities on dalits then he jumped in to social movement.He joined Dalit Panther under the guidance of Prof.Arun Kamble and Ramdas Athawale.
He contested MLA election in 1978 as his candidature filed by Dalit Panther and Indira Congress jointly.Nasikrao Tirpude, former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Prof. Arun Kamble declared his candidature. He lost by 25000 votes against Sushilkumar Shinde.
Social Life
He feel that that social platform should be needed to publicize atrocities on Dalits. So he started Weekly Bandkhor to roar out Dalit voice against the Hindu high class. He supported youth movement popularly known as Sangharsha Vahini in Maharashtra to establish equality in society.Ranga Vaidya (Chief editor, Dainik Sanchar, Solapur), V.R Kulkarni (editor, Dainik Kesari, Solapur) the well-known journalist from solapur supported in his social movement.
He lead Namantar Andolan morcha of solapur to change the name of Marathwada University, from Solapur to Delhi in 1979.He was then arrested by Delhi government.He fled from the clutches of Delhi government and came back to solapur and again led Nanga Morcha to leave his colleges from Delhi government.
He later on found many dalit teachers facing sever caste discrimination at working place.He joined Shikshak Karmachari Sagathana under Rambhau Ganachari.Soon Rambhau Ganachari handed over his responsibilities of general secretory to him.Since then he is carried out several hunger strikes to give justice to dalits as well as downtrodden and economically backward classes.
