Alphaesthete

Alphaesthete is a phrase coined by social commentator Mark Simpson to describe men at the cutting-edge of male aesthetics. The word alphaesthete is a blend of alpha-male and aesthetics, one definition of the word is ‘a man that professes a special appreciation of what is beautiful and endeavours to carry his ideas of beauty into practical manifestations’. Alphaesthetes could be described as being the successors to the metrosexual and are born out of the idea that “the male desire to be desired has become so mainstream and ‘normal’ that most men are metro now to a degree. An alphaesthete is the metrosexual avant-garde”. Some notable alphaesthetes include Christiano Ronaldo, Kanye West, Tom Ford, Russell Brand, Daniel Craig and Andre Benjamin.
