Alphacam is CAD/CAM software which runs on Windows XP and Windows Vista for operating CNC Machines. A software interface called a Post-Processor is written for each type of CNC Machine so that new machines can be catered for quickly. Some of the modules are: *Macros (using the VBA API) let you automate repetitive tasks *Nesting (to get the most use out of sheet materials) *Solid Model Feature Extraction (turning an imported solid model into toolpaths that a CNC machine can work with) *Machine Simulation (an animated representation of the CNC machine at work) Notability Alphacam is written by Licom Sytems Ltd who are now a part of Planit Holdings Ltd which is ranked as the World Number One Vendor of Industrial CAM by CIMdata.
