FeatureCAM is a 3D CAM (Computer-aided manufcaturing) solution that runs on Microsoft Windows for the programming of tool paths for Lathes, 2 to 5 axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control)Milling machines, and Wire EDM that was acquired by Delcam in 2005. FeatureCAM automatically identifies 2D and 3D features based on the CAD model to automatically select appropriate tools, roughing and finishing strategies and Speeds and Feeds. History Introduced in 1995, FeatureCAM was the world's first Windows- and feature-based milling system. Since then the product range has grown significantly to include turning, wire-EDM, mill-turn packages and feature recognition for imported CAD files. In 2005 Delcam acquired the US-based CAM software specialist Engineering Geometry Systems, the developer of the FeatureCAM CADCAM software line. The latest version of FeatureCAM (FeatureCAM 2013) was released in September 2012. Integration of knowledge and experience from PowerMILL into FeatureCAM 2013 means it is now more capable when handling complex parts. |
