Alison Edmond

Alison Edmond was the Creative & Fashion Director of ' from 1997-2010. She then moved from London to live in Los Angeles, and is now styling freelance editorially and for advertising. She remains Los Angeles Editor for Harper's Bazaar UK, Fashion Editor at Large for Marie Claire US, and is also Ambassador for British Fashion in Los Angeles for The British Fashion Council.
Career
She grew up in the North East of England, and went to art college in Hull. She began her career in magazines in September 1986, hired by Anna Wintour as Art Coordinator of British Vogue, assisting then Art Director, John Hind. She moved in to the fashion department two years later under the editorship of Elizabeth Tilberis, and went from assisting Fashion Director Anna Harvey and Mens Editor Marcus von Ackermann, to being a Fashion Editor in her own right.
When Liz Tilberis moved to the US to edit Harper's Bazaar in 1992, Edmond followed her to the States, where Tilberis made her West Coast Editor of the magazine, based in Los Angeles. She lived there for five years, mainly styling celebrities for the magazine, including Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Val Kilmer.
Upon her return to London, she was appointed Fashion Director of ' in September 1997. When editor Lucy Yeomans joined the magazine in 2000, Edmond was promoted to Creative / Fashion Director. Edmond worked closely with Yeomans on the transition of Harper's & Queen to Harper's Bazaar as the revered fashion magazine it is today, and styled both the significant first covers with the name change - actress Cate Blanchett on March 2006, and model Georgia Frost in September 2007. She has styled almost one hundred covers for the magazine in her tenure, worked with most of the top photographers in the industry, and her style became synonymous with the visual of the magazine. In May 2007, Harper's Bazaar received the top award at the PPA Awards and was named Consumer Magazine of the Year, beating Vogue.
Edmond is also one of the best known celebrity stylists in the industry, doing personal styling for Gwyneth Paltrow and Thandie Newton amongst others, and has shot covers including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Sienna Miller, Rachel Weisz, Liv Tyler, Naomi Watts, Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Connelly, Katherine Heigl, and Keira Knightley. She also works with Simon Cowell's record company Syco as a Creative Consultant.
Family
Edmond is married to John Pearson, and has three children. In July 2009 they moved from London to live and work in Los Angeles.
