Mohammad Ali aka Ali Tim, is a multi-talented and diverse individual. He possesses composing music, writing articles and columns, poetry, fashion and interior designing, production and film direction all under his umbrella of skills whereas by degree, Ali is a Medical Doctor. Ali Tim initially emerged as the bassist of a pop band, Milestones along with Candy and Ziyyad in the 1990s. He has an innumerable contribution of articles and columns (over 5000 in number) in various magazines and newspapers all over Pakistan. Ali Tim has his own licensed entertainment company named as "Tims World" registered in Toronto, Canada. Early life Ali Tim was born in PECHS, Karachi on 29 January 1968, 8th in line of his 11 siblings. He received his primary education from Quaideen Public School in Karachi and completed his intermediate education from DJ Science College in 1982. Pursuing his father's desire for him to be a doctor, Ali entered Sindh Medical College in Karachi and graduated to be a Medical Doctor (MBBS) in 1990. He completed his residency in Psychiatry and General Surgery. Ali was also associated with Zia Ud Din Hospital in Karachi as a pathologist for a short interval of time before he marched towards his passion for music and arts. Music Ali Tim has been consistent and passionate about music since his childhood. At the age of 10, Ali started playing Banjo, a sindhi string instrument and later he started playing castanets and harmonica and a little bit flute. Eventually, in his teen years Ali acquired a guitar and he began learning it through an Old Dan Morgan book. Ali has been inspired by the tunes of CCR, The Beatles, Smokie and Elvis and later down the line, he formed his own band, Milestones. The Milestones Ali Tim stepped into the music field with "Milestones" in 1990 with Candy on vocals, Ziyyad Gulzar on guitars and himself as the bassist/songwriter. Milestones released two (2) albums, Milestones and Jadoo, which turned out to be an enormous hit in the pop industry of Pakistan and gained a great deal of attention for these young and talented musicians. Aakash In 1995, Milestones disbanded and the following year in 1996, Ali formed another band "Aakash" which lasted for an year but their music left an impact to its' listeners. The line up constituted of Ziyyad on guitars, Allan on drums, Ali Haider on vocals and himself on the bass and backing vocals. Aakash released 1 album out of which "Chand Se Mukhda" and "Dil Waley" from their debut album topped the MTV charts rightaway in Pakistan & also in India. The Album was titled as "Chand Sa Mukhda" & Magnasound released this album in India. AKS In 2000, Ali got himself acquainted with Aimon on vocals, Hammad on vocals and guitars and himself on bass and backing vocals forming AKS. AKS recorded 1 album but it remained unreleased. Project Tim Project Tim is Ali Tims' solo album which is recorded but unreleased. Ali Tim has played with Ali Haider as a session bass player in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Middle East, India and all over Pakistan for 7 years starting from 1996-2001. He has composed three (3) tracks for Hadiqa Kiani's top selling album Roshini that also topped the charts instantly after its release. Writer Ali Tim has written articles and columns for innumerable magazines and papers in Pakistan as early as in 1985. Creative copy writing, web content writing and creating slogans for companies are his specialized fields. His pennings were read by a wide audience and he usually criticized music or posted his reviews. Ali Tim is an authour himself of two unpublished books, Meri Pehli Kitab and Marketing Slow'guns which are soon going to be available in stores. Designer In late 80's, Ali Tim designed clothes for himself at his sisters' garments factory for "Kids Wear". Later, he started designing clothes for leading outlets in Karachi. Hand painted shirts for women and jeans for men are his special domain. Ali Tim has designed for the leading (American) designer "Nina Ricci" in New York City. He also designed the wardrobe for a local Pakistani movie starring pop singer Ali Haider and Zara Shiekh in the lead roles. Now Ali Tim is also set to launch his own casual clothing line with AT Jeans and AT shirts. Achievements And Awards * Best Singer Award - 1980 (Quaideen School) * Best Band Award (Milestones) - 1990 at Al Hamra Cultural Awards * Best Band Award (Milestones) - 1991 at Music Mercenaries Awards. * Nominated as The First & Only Band from Asia at Amnesty International in 1992 for spreading awareness about innocent imprisoned people. * Declared as The Band Of The Year - 1994 by Dawn Images. * Declared as the second most widely read writer on Showbiz by The News in 1997. * Declared as the most talented and diverse individual in Pakistan by the British Council & sent to EMMA in London as an ambassador in 2000. * Starred in PTV Serial “Aadha Chehra” in 2000. The serial was declared the top seller of the year. * Produced the first animated Pop up video series, “Humming Bird” in Pakistan for HUM TV in 2005. Also, scripted, directed and produced ”Popistory”, “Musicology” and several other music based shows/events/concerts for Eye Television Network, Pakistan. * Launched Pakistan’s first news supplement for the youth, “AAGAHI - Naujawano Ki Awaz” under the umbrella of AAG Geo TV Network & The News, Jang Group of Newspapers in 2007. * Launched www.aag.tv - AAG Geo TV Networks interactive website and launched numerous successful campaigns via AAG.
